When their car rolled up, all I could see was mounds of white tulle, her huge smile, and that glittering tiara, so I knew immediately we were going to have a marvelous session! She honestly looked like a princess when she stepped out of the car, and when she went up en pointe in that dress..WOW! When she changed into her 3rd, more casual look and we were on our way down to the beach, we came across a sitting area surrounded by the most beautiful bougainvilleas, that happened to match PERFECTLY with her headpiece, which is now a tradition to wear during quince in her family. We then ventured down to the beach and ended our session with some beautiful captures of her dancing as the sun went down. Miss J is driven and strong, as well as funny and creative. Her Mom and I hit it off immediately which made the whole shoot so much fun! Delivering her final album was the icing on the cake, it turned out gorgeous and it always makes my heart happy to know they have it to share with generations of flower headpiece wearing family members to come!

We had cancelled our session several times due to undesirable weather, so a little wind wasn’t going to stop us today. And by “a little wind”, I mean ALOT of wind. But although we were a bit hesitant on how it was going to work out, we all were pleasantly surprised to have the wind actually work in our favor by not only cooling us off, but adding a bit of drama and flare to our already stunning Miss C!
The day ended up being perfect. We had such an amazing time exploring the beautiful grounds of Fairchild Tropical Gardens. And the fresh floral halo, created by lil ol me, worked out great on accomplishing the boho feel we were wanting for this shoot. Miss C was so fun to work with, she was up to jump into any nook I discovered to get some really interesting shots and completely owned her session!

Who would have ever known that a pane of shattered glass would open up such an unbelievable opportunity for me. I met Cassia of Ovations Productions by complete kismet one afternoon at General Provision in Fat Village. She was this unbelievable beauty, sitting on the couch with big plans in the making. After we spoke for just a bit she scribbled my information down on a piece of paper and we swore we would talk soon. We met a few weeks later, and after a great cup of coffee at my favorite hang out, Brew Urban Cafe, I realized our paths were meant to cross. Ovation Productions was getting geared up for their official launching which was going to be during Art Walk the following month, and guess what?…They needed some dance photos done!! WOO HOO!! To have my images displayed at such a cool venue has always been a dream of mine, and knowing I was going to get to collaborate with this crazy talented group of dancers just sent me over the moon!! Our session produced some amazing images that I think really showcased the versatility of all the dancers! I made a BF that day..Miss Bianca! And I saw myself as a true artist thanks to Christopher. And Cassia, well she was exquisite inside and out, and I value her artisty, and friendship, and I can’t wait to work on our next collaboration soon!
Art Walk in Fat Village had to be one of the my most memorable nights of my life. I was surrounded and supported by close friends, and to see my images on display was surreal. Thank you for the opportunity Ovation Productions! Heres to the the dancer inside us all!

When I got the email, I had NO idea what to expect from these two lovlies. All I knew was that they were in town for vacation and had only one day available for a dance photo shoot before they headed back home to Canada.
We met the day before and ironed out the details of the session, which was going to be the very next day. The girls were quiet and humble, I really had no idea of the level of their talents. But when they showed up to their shoot…WOW, they were ready to WERK. During the ENTIRE session I was blown away at their artistry and unbelievable abilities. They were fun, professional and limitless. We had such a GREAT time, even getting to meet the actual artist of one of the most amazing murals in downtown Hollywood, Tatiana Suarez, who was wonderful enough to take a quick shot with the girls. I enjoyed every minute of this shoot, and we kept going litterly till the sun went down. I since, have really loved being able to watch from afar (thank you Instagram) as they grow and give it their all at competitions and intensives throughout the year. I know they will only do fantastic things in the future, and I really hope they come my way again. Go get em girls!

I was instantly jealous of Miss S and her amazing locks. She also is an amazing tumbler and dancer, I think I had her do an ariel AT LEAST 20 times, which she did, with not one complaint. She was so fun to work with and an absolute stunner in front of my camera. She worked hard during our shoot, all the way to the end, in which I asked her to jump and smile, multiple times, again, with not even a grumble. Miss S worked very hard during her session, and it shows. Looking forward to shooting her again soon, and until then I will just dream of having her hair.

“Find that magical place in the world, and live there.”
I just LOVE this session, I really can’t say enough about it.
These images had been living inside my imagination since I saw their costumes. And I can’t thank these gorgeous girls enough for having the patience and enthusiasm to help me create something beautiful. They are not only talented, but true artists up for whatever it took to get the shots we were aiming for. They are graceful and elegant, whimsical and ethereal, but also tough and driven. And I can’t be luckier to be a small part of their journey.
I hope they look upon these images in years to come with the same awe I felt when I took them.

AWESTRUCK: adjective 1. overcome or filled with awe.
The word I would choose to sum up how I felt after spending an afternoon at Artistic Dance Center in Miami, FL.
I had planned on just sitting in on 1-2 classes that day, but ended up staying there all afternoon. The level of commitment and drive in all the girls attending the intensive classes there was just amazing. They were of all different ages and levels, but they shared one common thing…the complete love of dance!
I learned a lot that day, and I am hoping to use those tools in my upcoming dance sessions.
I want to thank everyone at ADC for being so wonderful to me, and I can’t wait to photograph there again!

I had only spoken briefly on the phone with this family before I showed up on their door, ready for an adventure. Learning about this beautiful family and how they came to be one was truly wonderful and I couldn’t wait to capture some family photos. We had then planned to go out to the airfield to get some amazing, and sentimental shots of Miss H dancing among the planes….and the minute she went up into her first arabesque, I was blown away. She was athletic and graceful, and just wicked to watch. I had such a great time during this shoot, and it was such a fun adventure for me to get to photograph in some new locations with this amazing girl and her family.

I love to photograph Holy First Communions! It was such a beautiful morning to spend with Miss L, who is a creative, vibrant spirit. She looked like an angel in her gorgeous dress, complete with her mother’s wedding veil, which was stunning. She glowed that morning, with everything wonderful and amazing about being a girl that age with the whole word to look forward to. It was also fun to let her hair down and do some funky photos of her and her wild side..there is no stopping this girl!

Miss M is AMAZING! She’s smart, funny, and wickedly talented. Ive known her parents since I moved here to FL, and I can’t thank them enough for letting me bring their daughter to all kinds of crazy locations with a zillion ideas swirling around my head. I am always inspired by her. She pushes my limits on what I think I can create, and Im thankful to her for that! Her Mom is also an amazing choreographer, which is FANTASTIC, I learn from her too at every session. And a big shout out to her Dad, who is not only a crazy talented graphic designer, but a pretty good body guard as well! Thank you to the entire MDO family for always believing in me!
