Who would have ever known that a pane of shattered glass would open up such an unbelievable opportunity for me. I met Cassia of Ovations Productions by complete kismet one afternoon at General Provision in Fat Village. She was this unbelievable beauty, sitting on the couch with big plans in the making. After we spoke for just a bit she scribbled my information down on a piece of paper and we swore we would talk soon. We met a few weeks later, and after a great cup of coffee at my favorite hang out, Brew Urban Cafe, I realized our paths were meant to cross. Ovation Productions was getting geared up for their official launching which was going to be during Art Walk the following month, and guess what?…They needed some dance photos done!! WOO HOO!! To have my images displayed at such a cool venue has always been a dream of mine, and knowing I was going to get to collaborate with this crazy talented group of dancers just sent me over the moon!! Our session produced some amazing images that I think really showcased the versatility of all the dancers! I made a BF that day..Miss Bianca! And I saw myself as a true artist thanks to Christopher. And Cassia, well she was exquisite inside and out, and I value her artisty, and friendship, and I can’t wait to work on our next collaboration soon!
Art Walk in Fat Village had to be one of the my most memorable nights of my life. I was surrounded and supported by close friends, and to see my images on display was surreal. Thank you for the opportunity Ovation Productions! Heres to the the dancer inside us all!

Miss M looked completely stunning as she arrived for her quince shoot. Everywhere we went that afternoon she was watched and admired. If only all the spectators knew that she was as equally fabulous on the inside as she is on the outside! I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her since she was a baby, and as she grows into a young lady I truly am in awe of everything she has accomplished. Miss M is hilarious, and focused, committed and fun, and it was such a wonderful thing to be asked to photograph yet another incredible milestone in her life. I know this is just the beginning for her, there is nothing but the best in the years to come, and I can’t wait to be there to hopefully photograph it all!

I first got to photograph these beauties while on stage during The Nutcracker at Astrid Audet Academy of Ballet. From their talent to their poise, they were magical up there. I also knew they were Seniors and had a close friendship from dancing together for years. I thought it would be fun to take them out of the studio and get some creative shots of them venturing around downtown Wilton Manors, including a nightclub and a funky barber shop. These girls are the real deal. They are extremely smart, really funny, completely driven and just a blast to be around. They have their whole life ahead of them, and they have fantastic heads on their shoulders. I loved being able to document this time of their lives together for them to look back on as they venture onto whatever they set their minds on accomplishing. I wish them nothing but wonderfulness in their futures, and I can’t wait to see how far they go in life!

I first saw this amazing dancer at summer intensives while I was shooting at Artistic Dance Center. She stood out immediately. Not only the beyond adorable freckles, but her commitment and discipline really made an immediate impression on me. I HAD to work with her! I met with her and her Mom over coffee and they were ALL in! I had a fun location in mind, the driveway of a close friend and fellow photog, Clay Wieland. We planned for a great day of several costume changes and exploration of the neighborhood. It was really important for me during the session to show how fun and creative showcasing costumes in a different way could be! Miss K was fearless and unstoppable. We really had such a great time, lots of laughs, lots of fun, and some unforgettable images to always remember this day by!

When I got the email, I had NO idea what to expect from these two lovlies. All I knew was that they were in town for vacation and had only one day available for a dance photo shoot before they headed back home to Canada.
We met the day before and ironed out the details of the session, which was going to be the very next day. The girls were quiet and humble, I really had no idea of the level of their talents. But when they showed up to their shoot…WOW, they were ready to WERK. During the ENTIRE session I was blown away at their artistry and unbelievable abilities. They were fun, professional and limitless. We had such a GREAT time, even getting to meet the actual artist of one of the most amazing murals in downtown Hollywood, Tatiana Suarez, who was wonderful enough to take a quick shot with the girls. I enjoyed every minute of this shoot, and we kept going litterly till the sun went down. I since, have really loved being able to watch from afar (thank you Instagram) as they grow and give it their all at competitions and intensives throughout the year. I know they will only do fantastic things in the future, and I really hope they come my way again. Go get em girls!

Alison Hesh, the Artistic Director at The Ballet Space at Soul Purpose Studio in Miami, Florida totally rocks my world! She is a fantastic instructor with a edgy modern outlook on teaching the next generation of dancers. I hit it off with her immediately and absolutly loved sitting in on a few classes complete with the first day of choreography for her upcoming “Nutcracker Dreams” (her original adaptation of the classic The Nutcracker production) I sooooo look forward to working with her and her dancers a lot more in the future because they are just crazy talented!

I was instantly jealous of Miss S and her amazing locks. She also is an amazing tumbler and dancer, I think I had her do an ariel AT LEAST 20 times, which she did, with not one complaint. She was so fun to work with and an absolute stunner in front of my camera. She worked hard during our shoot, all the way to the end, in which I asked her to jump and smile, multiple times, again, with not even a grumble. Miss S worked very hard during her session, and it shows. Looking forward to shooting her again soon, and until then I will just dream of having her hair.

I had been looking forward to this session for a good month! Two beautiful sisters that also were dancers..how fun is that? Their mother and I had been going back and forth on outfits and locations and seemed to be all set when the big day finally arrived. That big day however was the day after a monsoon swept through Cooper City, and while it was a gorgeous day when we were to do our session, it didn’t cross my mind the overwhelming population of mosquitoes that would be there to welcome us. They were not my friend that day. In fact they pretty much ate me alive. I’m a photographer, and I’ve been doing this a pretty long time, but I’ll admit this knocked me off my feet. But through it ALL, these girls were..AMAZING, they didn’t complain, didn’t make any comments on my ever swelling face, didn’t say a thing about the humidity…they were really unbelievable, and I can’t honestly thank them and their fantastic mother for their total understanding and compassion for the situation. First thing I did when I got home was text the client to make sure they were not in the same miserable state as I was. Luckily their Mom was smarter then I and diligent on the bug spray so the girls didn’t get quite as bad as me, however they did get their fair share too. Ill admit I was embarrassed after I got home from this session. How could I have not known this, planned more accordingly? Truth is, I’m human. Sometimes photographers scout out a location with the best intentions for the session and the look we are hoping for, but sometimes, it just doesn’t work out the way we planned. All we can do is power through, keep our composure and continue to strive forward to get that perfect image.
I have admit, I LOVE these photos. I LOVE this family for sticking with me and not throwing in the towel. All the time their Mom spent planning their outfits, along with the location really looked unbelievable…BUT..next year, I promise…an indoor shoot!

“Find that magical place in the world, and live there.”
I just LOVE this session, I really can’t say enough about it.
These images had been living inside my imagination since I saw their costumes. And I can’t thank these gorgeous girls enough for having the patience and enthusiasm to help me create something beautiful. They are not only talented, but true artists up for whatever it took to get the shots we were aiming for. They are graceful and elegant, whimsical and ethereal, but also tough and driven. And I can’t be luckier to be a small part of their journey.
I hope they look upon these images in years to come with the same awe I felt when I took them.

Meeting over coffee with these two lovelies was a dream come true for me. I had been imagining this session for a long time now, so when it finally came together I honestly couldn’t have been happier! As a dance photographer, I think its so important to not only capture the technique of the dance, but the FEEL and DRAMA of it too. I wanted a vintage story telling feel for this session, for us to remember the excitement and fun they have when they are preforming in the theater! Beauty, drama, and happiness all the things that bring me to tears when I am watching a performance.
I can’t thank these girls, their Mom and my close friend and choreographer enough for creating this vision with me. I know it wasn’t easy…I think it was border line 100 degrees this day… but when I look at them I see nothing but joy, happiness, friendship and the overall love for dance.
